This project was a close linguistic study of the language in the Greek text of the New Testament as well as its translations into the old Indo-European languages Latin, Gothic, Armenian and Old Church Slavonic.
The aim of the project was to describe and account for the so-called pragmatic resources of these languages, i.e. the resources that the grammar makes available for structuring information in a text, and eventually to compare the different systems from a typological and a genetic perspective.
In producing oral or written discourses, speakers/writers mark discourse referents, events, times, places and individuals that are spoken about, as old, new or contrastive information in order to make it easier for listeners/readers to keep track of them.

Questo progetto è stato un attento studio linguistico condotto sul testo greco del Nuovo Testamento, così come sulle sue traduzioni nelle vecchie lingue indoeuropee: latino, gotico, armeno e slavo antico usate dalla Chiesa.
Lo scopo del progetto era quello di descrivere e spiegare le cosiddette risorse pragmatiche di queste lingue, cioè le risorse che la grammatica mette a disposizione per strutturare le informazioni in un testo, ed eventualmente confrontare i diversi sistemi da una prospettiva tipologica e genetica.
Nel produrre discorsi orali o scritti, oratori e scrittori, riscontrano referimenti, eventi, tempi, luoghi e individui citati nel testo, classificandoli come informazioni vecchie, nuove o contrastanti al fine di rendere più facile per gli ascoltatori ed i lettori tenere traccia di questi elementi.
