The Association for Computers and the Humanities (ACH) is a major professional society for the digital humanities. They support and disseminate research and cultivate a vibrant professional community through conferences, publications, and outreach activities. ACH is based in the US, but boasts an international membership (as of November 2015, representing 21 countries worldwide).
ACH advocates for and supports all of our members in their digital humanities work. Digital humanities is a broad term encompassing a wide range of subject domains, methods, and communities of practice, including (but not limited to) computer-assisted research, pedagogy, and software; resource creation, curation, and engagement; physical computing; the use of digital technologies to write, publish, and review scholarship; and humanistic research into and about digital objects and culture. ACH recognizes that this work is inherently and inextricably sociopolitical, and thus advocates for social change through the use of computers and related technologies in the study of humanistic subjects.

L'Associazione per l'informatica e le scienze umane (ACH) è una delle principali società professionali per la digitalizzazione delle scienze umanistiche. Essa sostiene e diffonde la ricerca, coltivando una vivace comunità professionale attraverso conferenze, pubblicazioni e attività di sensibilizzazione. ACH ha sede negli Stati Uniti, ma vanta un'adesione a livello internazionale (a partire dal novembre 2015 rappresenta 21 paesi in tutto il mondo).
ACH sostiene tutti i suoi membri nel loro lavoro umanistico digitale. Digital humanities è un termine ampio che comprende una vasta gamma di domini, metodi e comunità, tra cui (ma non solo) ricerca assistita da computer, pedagogia e software, creazione di risorse, calcolo fisico, uso delle tecnologie digitali per scrivere, pubblicare, studi e ricerche umanistiche su oggetti e culture digitali.
ACH riconosce che questo lavoro è intrinsecamente e inestricabilmente sociopolitico, e quindi sostiene il cambiamento sociale attraverso l'uso di computer e tecnologie correlate nello studio delle materie umanistiche.
