Planning for the website for the Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore began in the summer of 1996. The original idea was to provide information about the Poe Society and to answer some of the typical questions that were most commonly asked about Poe. It was also intended to provide electronic versions of a number of Poe’s writings, particularly for items not readily available in printed texts.
As of 2015, the website contains over 6,000 individual pages and serves as the most extensive collection of Poe-related material available in any single resource. It offers also a biography and the digitalized works of tha author.
La pianificazione del sito della Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore iniziò nell'estate del 1996. L'idea iniziale era di fornire informazioni sulla Poe Society e di rispondere ad alcune delle domande su Poe che venivano fatte di solito. L'intenzione era inoltre fornire versioni elettroniche degli scritti di Poe, in particolare degli articoli difficilmente reperibili nei testi stampati.
Alla data del 2015 il sito conteneva oltre 6000 pagine ed è attualmente la collezione più estesa di materiali relativi a Poe disponibile. La risorsa offre anche la biografia e le opere in formato digitale dell'autore.
